| ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT |
| Egbedore Local Government, being a government at the grassroot level, has contributed immensely to the socio-economic development of the area. These are evident in the capital projects executed during the regime of the past and the present administrations in the Local Government. In actual fact, the present administration of Otunba Akin Ajetunmobi has within its limited resources and in line with the programmes of its party (PDP) has tried its best in meeting the yearnings and aspirations of the people of Egbedore Local Government Area in the following areas: |
| EDUCATION |
Since the inception of this administration, yearly bursary awards of N2 Million has been given to the indigenes of the Local Government attending various tertiary institutions in Nigeria in order to supplement parent expenses on their children’s education. Special financial assistance of a sum of N25,000,00 each were also given to the Local Government Law and Medical students to defray part of their school expenses.
Having noticed the dilapidated conditions of all the public schools in the Local Government Area, this administration embarked on the construction of nine (9) blocks of two classrooms each in 2005 and a school administrative block as Councillors' Constituency Projects, while twenty two (22) blocks of three Classrooms each have been constructed under the Chairman’s Constituency Project for all the Primary and secondary schools in the Local Government area.
Two new Secondary schools was established at Ojo/Aro and Awo towns. As a result of shortage of teachers in both Primary and secondary schools, the Local Government engaged 50 young Graduates under the scheme tagged “Akin Ajetunmobi Corps” to teach in both Primary and Secondary Schools where there is shortage of teachers with a monthly stipend of N5,000.00 each monthly. In order to improve the standard of Education, the Local Government distributed free text books, 200 cartons of white chalk, 126,000 copies of exercise books, 10,000 transparent rulers, and other instructional materials to all the pupils in the public schools in Egbedore Local Government.
The Local Government printed 100,000 copies of objective answer sheets for Primary Schools recently. The Local Government accepted students from this Local Government and other places to undergo a year, three or four months Industrial Training programme with the Local Government. A monthly stipend of N1,500.00 each was being paid by the Local Government for the students accepted for a year l.T. programme. | HEALTH |
As part of the Local Government efforts at reducing child mortality in this Local Government in particular and Osun State in general, the present administration established 3 additional Health facilities bringing to 22 Health facilities in Egbedore Local Government.
Drugs and dressings were constantly purchased and distributed to all the Local Government Health facilities. Effective and efficient health care service delivery are now being brought to the door step of Egbedore Local Government populace.
Immunisation activities, in the Local Government Area has being improved through community mobilisation and health education. The rural people not only accepted the immunisation but even request for it. The Local Government has recorded 95% coverage of Immunisation exercises.
Regular supply of vaccines to all the Local Government Health facilities has greatly improved child survival as immunisation remains the most important key to reduction of child mortality.
The Local Government has approved a standing monthly running expenses for the National Programme on Immunisation unit to serve as logistics support to carry out their activities. The European Union (EU) are also assisting this Local Government in the monthly vaccines distribution to all the Health facilities. The Local Government and European Union (EU) are now jointly undertaking maintenance of Cold Chain System and repair of the Local Government freezers.
Another 2 solar freezers were supplied to this Local Government by the European Union (EU) and these has helped in monitoring the potency of the Local Government vaccines.
On medical personnel, Egbedore Local Government has a qualified Medical Officer (Medical), a Pharmacist, 5 Nurses, many Community Health Extension Workers (CHEWS) and other Health Personnel. All these Health Officers have definitely helped in improving health care service delivery in this Local Government.
Various training and workshop were organised by the Local Government and Local Government Service Commission for the Local Government Health workers on how to reduce child mortality. The European Union (EU) has trained 50 Local Government Health workers with the aim of improving the quality of the Local Government immunisation activities. The European Union (ED) has also sponsored 2 training programmes this year for social mobilisation for community members drawn across the 10 wards in this Local Government Area.
Child spacing is a very important key to child survival and improvement of maternal health. Base on this, the Local Government 22 Health facilities provide one form of family planning service or the other to women. The UNFPA constantly trained and re-trained all cadres of health workers in modern methods of family planning with the aims of improving maternal Health Care.
Breastfeeding Campaign among women was vigorously pursued by the Local Government. Women have now accepted and believe in breastfeeding of their children as a veritable ingredient for child survival.
Distribution of Vitamin A Supplements, Immunization activities, baby shows and Health Week in the Local Government Area has greatly help to improve maternal health among people.
Improved drugs supply to the Local Government Health facilities by the State and Local Government and prompt referral of difficult cases to Secondary/Tertiary Health Care Centres has made health service delivery successful in Egbedore Local Government and thereby improving maternal Health.
As regard the control of menace of HIV/AIDS, the Local Government organised HIV/AIDS awareness workshop for vulnerable groups e.g. Civil Servants, drivers, hair dressers, students and host of others on the dangers of HIV/AIDS.
The Local Government people were advised against premarital and extra-marital sex to avoid contacting HIV/AIDS. Condoms were distributed to the Local Government people at free of charge.
Harmful traditional practises like female circumcision, tattoo making e.t.c. are being discouraged among people.
The Local Government Health workers were trained not to use already used needles/syringes for another patients. Single injection practise is the standard in all the Local Government health facilities.
The State Government has a standard blood policy; this Local Government take a clue from this by ensuring that all blood transfusion to a patient in all our health facilities are screened.
The Local Government distributed treated mosquito nets to infant mothers and ensure that malaria drugs and injections are available in all the Health Centres for the treatment of malaria.
Effective and efficient health care service delivery in Egbedore Local Government has helped in preventing HIV/AIDS, and reducing malaria and other diseases. |
| WATER SUPPLY |
Extension of pipe borne water to towns and villages such as Ilaasan, Ebu Alamo street in Iragberi, Aro Ope, Woru, Ebu Akinlaja, Grammar School and Oke Ibukun in Ido-Osun through regular allocation to the Local Government. Meanwhile, many other extension projects in respect of pipe born water were executed under the Councillors’ Constituency Projects.
These could be found at Ofatedo, Abogunde, Sekoni, Bara, Ilaasan, Ijaye, Aba-oku, Alawo Grammar School, Baptist Primary School, Awo, Gaa Fulani Awo, Ojo-Aro Community Grammar School, Ojo Dispensary Centre, Ebu Ojo, Alaro Isale, Alaro Oke, Jagun’s Compound, Abidoye’s Compound, Akinmade Alao Area, Obalaro Area, Ebu Aro, Laula Street and Daodu Agbole.
Deep wells were provided for various communities namely Ebu-Elepo, Okinni, Ido-Osun, Iragberi Palace, Lajorin village Iwoye. In addition, the Councillors’ Constituency Projects have came out with the sinking of deep wells at Gaa Alaro, Idi Iroko, Olosi compound, while other ones are on-going at Awo Ward.Many bore holes for water supply have been provided for communities namely; Oye in Ara, Ibikunle Estate, Faridah Adeleke market. The G. 1 pipes and accessories for water supply in Ido-Osun township were replaced to enable the provision of potable water in the area. |

| ELECTRICITY SUPPLY |
| The electricity extension, reactivation and installation of street lightening were executed at Ido-Osun, Ara, Iragberi, Okinni, Awo, Dada Estate, Ikotun and Iwoye.
In a bid to proffer solutions to many problems facing the people of the area, the Local Government extended low tension lines to Primary Health Centre Ikotun, Olobu-Ara, Iragberi Grammar School and some streets (Abiodun Egbetola, Ezekiel, Opagbemi and Tope Ajetunmobi) in Ofatedo and Ido-Osun (Grammar School and Oke Ibukun Road).
The Local Government has successfully executed an electrification project at Ikotun township to enable socio-economic development of the area.
Four (4) numbers of 500KVA electricity transformer were provided for communities namely Ojo, Aro, Ido-Osun and Ailaka. |
| URBAN AND RURAL ROADS |
| Regular maintenance of urban and rural roads was given priority attention through the grading of roads using the machines owned by the Local Government and the hired ones. This is mostly common during dry season period and it has been a usual project since inception of the present administration.
In a bid to boost its efforts in regular maintenance of rural and urban roads, the Local Government has purchased a brand new GR215 grading machines through the assistance of the State Government to enable the extension of roads maintenance to nooks and crannies of the Local Government Area.
The Local Government is at present executing the construction of asphaltic road project at Iragberi-Ikotun Road and the Ido-Osun asphaltic road project tagged “Honey-comb Project”. The asphaltic tarring of Okinni township road has commenced.
Having noted that sustenance of roads has to do with provision of run-away for water, the Local Government has constructed lined drainages at Ofatedo. Also, some numbers of ring culverts have been constructed at Egbedi, Iragberi, Ido-Osun, Ofatedo, Okini, Ekuro-Iwoye Road, Olorunsogo and Halleluyah area to enable easier accessibility in the Local Government Area.

| AGRICULTURE |
The Local Government has been stocking the poultry house with birds as at when due since the inception of the present administration. Presently, the Local Government has about 3,500 layers. The eggs produced on daily basis does not only improve the protein in-takes of the people within the Local Government Area, but a veritable source of revenue to the Local Government.
Fifteen (15) acres of maize were inter-planted with five (5) acres of cassava to boost food production in the area and the State.
The Local Government has cultivated five (5) acres of palm oil plantation for the production of palm products.
The Local Government has purchased five (5) tractors through the assistance of the State Government to support farming activities in the area.
Cocoa nursery site has been established with a view to encouraging production of cocoa in the area.
Some modern equipment such as boosprayer, maize sheller, etc have been purchased to assist farmers in the Local Government Area.
Different seminars and workshops were organised for farmers for enlightenment on new farming technologies in livestock, forestry, fishery, crop production, snail and bee keeping.
The Local Government has strengthened its collaboration with different research institutes and this has consequently enabled the exposition of farmers in the area to different opportunities that abound in practicing agriculture.
The indigenes of the Local Government who are currently undergoing training at OSSAYEP and students of agricultural studies in higher institutions have been enjoying normal and financial support from the present administration.
